Thumbs up FMF Muffler Packing - March 18, 2008, 12:17 PM

I have a FMF Gold Series pipe, with an FMF Power Core II silencer, its a 2003 RM-250 2-stroke, not sure when it was last repacked, so I want to repack the muffler.

So my question is, can I just go to Champion Motorsports in Sterling and pick up some 2-stroke muffler packing and be on my way. Or should I get the FMF packing that FMF sells?

I want to use it this weekend at Tomahawk MX in WV and want it to be in perfect running condition. So I need to know if the 2-stroke FMF packing is equivalent or really that much better than the Champion Motorsports packing? Any advice

Also anyone know the db rating on my exhaust, needs to be no more than 99db to be able to ride at Tomahawk, thanks for everything

Should be fine... just pack it nice and tight so you can get through the inital dB test if there is one.

Packing is all mostly the same. Just make sure you are wearing gloves.

And rub it on your neck and forearms

Using a little wire on the outside of the packing will help you get the core in as well.
