GSXR not revving properly after sitting unused - August 8, 2012, 02:42 PM

04 gsxr 600.

The bike has been parked for ~4 weeks. Possibly a little longer.

The bike started up normally on first try but there are two issues with how it revs. When I twist the throttle, it doesn't go past 8-10K... When I release the throttle, the revs drop slower than usual.

Otherwise, the engine runs perfectly fine, no stumbling or anything. I burned up the old gas and currently on new gas.

The bike is Fuel Injected. Anyone know what causes this, and how to fix it?

Sounds like the old gas just clogged stuff up.. You'll have to clean the system.. Maybe a fuel injector cleaner or seafoam type additive would help..

If it was carbs i'd say pull them and clean them! * As it sounds like its not getting enough fuel.

But someone with better Fuel Injection experience will chime in i'm sure..

EDIT: HA HA! I thought you said 4 years....

i think suzuki filters are made in the pump and might have to tear it down. My boy had us on the side of the road for the same reason...

+1 for checking the filter and plugs. Air, spark, fuel and she should work.
