I guess I won't know if I don't ask!!! - June 7, 2010, 07:23 AM

My 05 r6 chokes at high rpm!!!

In first gear it chokes at 10-11rpm then I have to change gear so it gets more power... And this keeps going I think till 4 gear but it's not at the same rpm all times... What could this be???

How old is the fuel? How old are the spark plugs, are all the cylinders firing properly?

I would start with the plugs, its a cheap way of knowing they aren't the cause of your problems, as far as the cylinders firing....if your bike is cold, start it up, and feel each exhaust header, right where it connects to the engine, and see if they are all equally warm (do it right when you fire it up, b/c it WILL get hot FAST), that's just a quick way of checking, by all means its not a 100% reliable way of checking (since they are all connected to one another through tubes that equalize the exhaust pressure).

As others said...start by changing the plugs (make sure all the connections are solid as well...I've had one pop off before) If that does not cure the issue, you may need a valve adjustment. The plugs and checking over everything is a good start though.

Wait let me rewrite this.....when I'm
riding and let's say I'm
trying to go faster I'm going and going and when it gets To 10-12rpm it's stuck like if there's something that's not letting gas get by... Like
then i feel that the "gas" gets by and then starts getting faster... I just got valve cover gasket change

Did you follow the advice that people have given you on here? Or are you trying to figure a way to get around doing what people are suggesting?
