Idle problem? - August 21, 2007, 11:56 AM

My friend has a FZ1 with an Idling issue I think. His bike will only run if the idle is set high, when he goes to lower the idle speed the bike cuts off, when he was letting it idle and rolling the throttle it would backfire, he rode with me for a couple of hours on Saturday, but whenever he had to slow down or stop, his bike would cut off. Any ideas? I told him to take it to A & J performance to let terrence look at it.

Hehe. Sounds like it could be carbs. Are FZ1s carboureted? I'd recommend a cleaning if they are. If it's fuel injected... uh... talk to someone who knows what they're talking about

I think it has a carb, not sure though. I will tell him to check into it.

If it's an older FZ1 it's got carbs which means your idle jets are clogged. Bring it down to Fast Lanes and ask for me. We'll take care of you.

God Speed Jeff! You'll never be forgotten.
