Local Rim Repair? - July 19, 2010, 02:55 PM

Can anyone recommend a place locally I can take my bent rim to get looked at for possible repair?

I can't seem to find a used front rim for sale anywhere.

Any shop can look at it but we have dealing's with places that repair bent rims. But if it was bent so badly that it would not hold air you would be better off buying a new one or used off fleabay. IMO buying off fleabay is total crap. Most rims on there are bent and the seller does not disclose it. Also find out what other bikes your rim is from and look at them.

Give Rick a call at 571-277-0892 and he can help you out.

Dude, your rim is beyond repairable. I hate to say it.

Guess it's just the impatient part of my personality that wants to at least patch it up for my commute while I wait to see a replacement rim pop up for sale. Guess I'll just have to suck it up drive to work for a while.

Anyone know which rims would fit other than one from a 07+ 600rr?

what the hell happened?

i got my rims straightened out a couple years back, one side of the lip was bent on each one. i got it done at a local shop. worst experience ever. horrible service, and they flaked on a guarantee after the fact. still riding on them today but i wish i wouldve just gotten a set of used straight rims

Dont give up without a professional opinion. Im just a donkey who likes to ride. I would definatly talk to Rick at R&R to see what he thinks.

Once I get around to taking the wheel off the bike this weekend I might just do that.

That's the first place I checked. There were only 3 or 4 front rims that went up for sale in the last 2 months and were all sold fairly quickly. Just gotta wait it out until I find one, I guess.

A good local rim shop for cars and maybe motorcycle wheels now too...

ALLOY WHEEL PROS, INC.

based out of Lovettsville, Va. They do business in Md. if you are wondering.

(301) 660-0025 proprietor is Wayne Reynard

email - wayne@alloywheelpros.com

P.O. VBox 385 Lovettsville, Va. 20180

They use ACU-TRU wheel repair systems.

They've just recently done a nice mimic of Black Chrome.

I just jumped on a rim from ebay that popped up this morning. The seller had thousands of positive feedback, so I feel good that the rim is in good shape. Other than the rotors, will I need to swap anything else from my current wheel like the bearings or anything?

You will have to buy new ones if the wheel does not come with ones .. you will have to hit the inner race of the wheel bearing while taking it off which is no good for further use .. aftermarket wheel bearings are cheaper .. ebay again

Just checked and the wheel comes ready to mount with bearings already.
