Angry Never knew a Tire could this - April 30, 2010, 08:39 AM

I saw this when I got to work today, I rode in on rt. 7100, no issues until in. There Metzlers M3 in the rear. Same tire in the front but looks pretty clean. What could do this.

It was a clean ride in.

Debating if I should ride it home. 20 mi. away

A new tire is imminent, but is this a defect? warranty coverage

Looks like you were something got stuck against your tire and started cutting threw it...I wouldn't ride on that for fear it may pop

How old are the tires? If there close to being new, I would load that bike into a truck and bring it back to the shop ASAP

WTF. like that other dude said, you must have had something stuck or dragging on the tire. I would NOT ride that, it's not worth risking a blow out and fucking up the rest of your bike.

I dont know if I could image stuck, that is a perfect cut down the center. I would say you either did a burn out and didnt realize your were tire was sitting on something or its a defect, either way, I would not ride on that tire

Only reason why I said stuck was when I bought my R1 the license plate holder broke on me and the license got wedged in the between the tire and the hugger and it made a cut similar to that...yeah it could also a bad tire.

DO NOT RIDE IT HOME! that shit is getting past the wear indicators, you're lucky to have made it to work. If you can't find out what it is that caused it before you leave then don't ride it.

Look at your fender well and around the swing arm, that line is too perfect to be a random thing.

I Have Nothing To Contribute.

The gash is pretty deep also...no wonder you didn't know those sooner??? and on a 20 mile ride if not there (or a trace of it) before the ride something dug in it a good portion of that 20.

DON"T RIDE ON THAT TIRE.

More than likely it's the license plate bracket of something that compresses when you sit on bike that dug into tire....I've seen it happen to ppl a few times. Just not that deep.

What do you value more? Life or Image?
