Nonwinterized bike, sittin since last fall - July 20, 2009, 03:22 PM

My buddy has a 07 CBR 600 that has been sitting in his basement since last fall. Gas, oil, nothing has been changed. He hasn't even started it. Next weekend we were going to drain the gas, change the oil, spark plugs, air filter. should we be replacing any other fluids or will this thing be fine?

Thanks

Time to replace the brake fluid if it hasn't been done already. good idea to replace it every other year.

How many months has it been sitting for? Did he start it at all? 1 time a week, 2 times a month?

If none, I would do oil change, coolant, gas,

If the gas has not gone bad just start it. Also if the oil is not full synthetic change it. If it is it should be fine depending on how many miles are on the oil before it sat up.

Yeah fak getting the gas out of the mofo runs. Just fire up the grill, drink some beers, and let the thing run. Get some fresh gas to run through it too. All the gas now has cleaners in it anyway. Tank or two of fresh and you'll be fine.

I would drain the gas. Only takes 15 min.
The last thing you want is bad gas getting through the system.
No need to mess up the injectors anymore than they already are.
And why not change the oil first also. Prob doesn't NEED to be done but these are high-performance engines. If it's got more than a couple thousand miles on the old oil it's corrossive. Easy to change now so why not?
I also agree with the brake fluid and coolant flush. Do it now and no worries later.
