Painting my bike - need advice and potential painter - June 26, 2009, 10:06 AM

So after I downed my bike on 211 two weeks ago, it is about 90% back to being ridable again. The only items that I have left unfinished are purely cosmetic and this is where I need some advice.

I have an 07 ninja 650r in passion red. The right center fairing (the one with the turn signal) as well as the OEM seat cowl http://www.motospecialties.com/store.asp?store=ninja650shop&level=category&type=S eat%20Cowls&type1=Seat%20Cowls&type2=Seat%20Cowls& category=06-08%20650R are scratched up (no major damage like cracks or deep cuts, just basic rash from the sand after it slid off the pavement - thank God for the right frame slider).

The fairings and seat cowl need to be color matched to the other side so I am going to get some aerosol cans from ColorRite to get the right match. Any ideas on how many cans of paint I would need to spray the fairing and the cowling? (I am guessing 3-4 coats with wet sand in between should be enough). I do have the clearcoat

http://www.colorrite.com/product/kawasaki-passion-red-1567.cfm
http://www.colorrite.com/product/1065-base-1178.cfm

I also purchased a Catalyst tail, which I want to paint gloss black.

Any recommendations on the type of black gloss paint and quantity for the catalyst tail?

All this brings me to my next question:

Are there any painters on the site who would be willing to get this done for me in the very near future? I would like to have all of this wrapped up within the next week. Shoot me a PM if you're up for the challenge

Thanks in advance guys

-Paul

Hey Derek,
I did the 04 636 front end swap.
I have pictures of the build process. Will post up when the bike is on the ground. Fingers crossed, tonight.

i would love to see that. That's how much the paint alone will cost.

I don't think Dirty is currently doing paint jobs...
but I may be wrong.
JDubbz isn't able to get them done anymore either. He would prolly refer you to Hyperryder too.

I will try to get a link for some of his work...
