Power Commander zx10 - May 5, 2010, 08:50 AM

Question?

I have a 09 zx10 and I just had a GP M4 slip on installed. Now I know I need a power commander, but I'm not sure if I should just use the map, get the autotune, or have it tuned at a shop.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

dude, dont download a map and throw it on there.

go get it a custom tune, rick will do it for a fair price. if you want you can also take it to battley cycles in gaithersburg area and they do good work too.

it is strongly advised. I also recommend checking out other fuel management options also, like bazzaz and dobeck..

for more information check out http://www.zx-10r.net for a comprehensive write up on the subject.

Do you buy a condom to look at it? No you buy it to fuck.

if all you have is a PC and a slip on, it's not that serious.

Why do you need a power commander?

You may not be able to eliminate that completely, even with a custom map. You most likely won't with a generic map, or you may go too far on the lean side. There are other options out there, namely Fast Card which is primo for the 10. There's a shop in Etchison, Maryland, that really knows how to set these up. Shawn at Cycle Connection. Ask around or shoot Stan55 a PM because he and his buddies have done this.

I have the same thing on my race zx10R..I gutted the cats and pop on a m4 pipe, but got a custom map made. (If you had a bazzaz id give you a copy).

The Bazzaz will give you a huge power difference if you are running it hard.
Also the 06-07 PC3 will fit and you can get them dirt cheap now. $150-$180.

I ran my 06's PC3 on my 08 at first...then cop a Bazzaz and it was night and day difference.

If you dont gut the cats, then I wouldn't worry to much.

My street 08 have 06 heads...gutted mid pipe with a custom Grave pipe on it. No custom map at all.

Well, then again I took the custome map from my race bike and put on it...and I have a map switch and to be honest I cant tell the difference on the street between the custom and the stock map.

Most places will charge you about $250+ for a custom map.
If you dont have a full system or still have the cats in it, I wouldnt worry about it.
You can always get a peave of mind Dyno run and see how off it is, and normaly if its off and you decide to get a custom tune they wont charge for the dyno run. ($35 to $60).

I mite get a custome put on my street bike this season tho...
and I love the poping noise.
