rectifier/regulator - how do i fix this? - June 23, 2011, 10:58 PM

I was having problems with the bikes electrical systems cutting off while riding...did some searching and found that I should check the rectifier/regulator and the plug that goes into it. Well this is what I found:

Question 1: where do I get a plug like that and will i have to cut this one and splice together a new one? or can i just change out that one terminal? if i can change out just that one terminal where do I get the little clip things? also I can't seem to pull that one wire out...any ideas?

questions 2: do you think i will need a new rectifier as well? or changing the plug may fix it?

ANY help is appreciated..i'm trying to sell this bike but want to get it working before I do.

ps..lesson learned with this...don't jump a bike with a car....it makes thing blow up

here's your connector:
CNA250-TL

you should be able to pull the wires out of that one with some needlenose pliers, then just crimp the new connectors..

the r/r MIGHT be fried too, but this is worth a shot first.

If that is an r6 you should get another rectifier they are about 100 bucks at Ronayers.com Ron Ayers Motorsports

This happens a lot to people that change their light bulbs to something other than stock did you do that?

Just wondering, did you have the car running when you jumped the bike?

OVER? did you say "Over"? Nothing is over until we decide its over, was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell No!!!

You can jump a bike with a car as long as 1) the bike and car are both 12v and 2) the car isn't running.
It is the alternator that burns the bike up.
