SoMD Cheap Tire Mounting - September 7, 2014, 08:15 AM

I searched but most threads refer to VA places for mounting and balancing.

New to the Southern Md area (Calvert Co.) and I need a new front tire shoed on this week. Standard 120/70-17 size, mounted and balanced (will probably need the rear done in another month or two).

Any suggestions for good places ~$25 with the wheel off the bike? I'll have the new tire with me (T30), ordering today.

Buy three tire spoons, some windex, and some baby powder. Then watch a youtube video or two and do it yourself. It's pretty easy, and you can get a rough balance with the wheel installed and the brake caliper removed.

I thought it was $8 to get over the bridge?

Geez, no one in the area does tires? Maybe I should buy a NoMar and start charging.

I called GRD and the guy I spoke with (didn't get his name....) said $50 if I bring in the wheel and tire.

I found a newer shop in Hollywood that'll do it for $30 so I'll just suck it up this time. Thanks though.

I am definitely looking into getting a changer over the winter. I've read and bookmarked numerous ways to mod the HF changer on various forums so I know what your talking about. Thanks.

I'm tossing around the idea of selling mine. It's a HF with all the mods done to it and I've got a No Mar bar for it. Balancer with weights will come with it. It's worked great on a bunch of .net wheels.

I know it! I've found a few. I live right off of Parran and Sixes which are pretty fun. I would appreciate a tour though. Let me know when you have some free time and I'll follow. Thanks!

Hahahaha.........don't post street names anymore.
We don't have alot of 2 wheeled traffic in our area, thus, next to no police presence.

I may throw one of my SoMD rides together soon.....I have over 500 miles linked up without leaving what is considered SoMD.
Will keep you posted.
