Speedometer - August 9, 2010, 03:43 PM

I read through some of the other threads on this topic and don't know if I found my answer:

My speedometer reads correctly in first gear and second.

In third and fourth it reads higher than I'm doing by 10-15 mph (on avg).

I have a 2004 gsxr.

It's probably not the gearing as much as the speed. Generally the higher the speed the more inaccurate the speedo is. (I believe technically the speedo is always inaccurate... just that 6% of 30 mph (28.2) is less noticeable than 6% of 120mph (112..

Did you check the GPS at say 50mph in 1st, 2nd, and then 5th gears?

Then again... That's just me.

Bikes have a standard % error that usually around 5% so the faster you go the less accurate your speed is. As mentioned above, speedo healer.
