Go back to using drum brakes, they don't touch all the time like rotors and pads do! Or use ear plugs, louder exhaust etc.

PS: make sure it isn't time to replace pads...

You should be able to visually see how much pad is left on them. A normal pad would have 8-9mm of material. Look from the front of the bike right inside the caliper and the part that is touching the rotor is the pad, front and back.
1/8 left they need to be replaced.

It's not a car. More like 5mm when brand new. A few hundred miles left at 1mm.

Thanks SVbadguy,
I was looking at this page.
http://www.motorcyclepads.com/7601-9...-95-08-92.aspx

They are measuring the entire pad not just the braking material.
Sorry...

Make sure you measure the actual composite material and not the metal plates that hold them in place (that doesn't count and will just grind into your rotors, so unless you want new rotors....just a heads up)

I had to argue with an inspector once when he tried to say there wasn't any difference in the brake pad width rule for cars and bikes. Long story short, I passed.
