Tire Suggestions.... - July 11, 2007, 03:49 PM

We really need to break down the forums...such as have a "Tire & Suspension" forum...wasnt sure where to put this.

I havent paid much attention to tech threads in awhile (almost a year and half) and I did a search on here without much luck.

What I want opinions on is this...mainly from 600RR people but all is welcome

What tires are you running for mainly street? What do you like and dont like?

I used to run on Dulop's 208GPA's and I loved them.

Been reading on the Metzeler M3's....

Someone help a girl out puleeze!

Thanks...and whore this tread, you die.

Sharon, try the Pilot Powers you will love them....they heat up quick and stick like glue.....I love them and will always use them......\

The new PP 2CT's are real good, but they seem to wear out real quick.

Again Pilot Powers are the way to go.

2CT is are more streetable IMHO. the dual compound on the shoulders is softer are provides a more progressive feel, while the center is harder compound for longer wear on the straights.

I use to love the m1's and ive heard from others that M3s are significantly better. so I myself am curious to try those as well..

its all prefrence.. pick what ya like from the big 4 and you should be okay.

Yeah the PP's have a hard middle so they dont wear out too quick and the edges are med/soft compound and stick like hell, for those un-expected decreasing radius'.

i had the dunlop GP qualifers OEM, they lasted and did what they were supposed to no sliding no front tire giving my ass pucker.. unlike the 208s that really were to squirmy for me.

I love the metzlers m1s and knowing that the M3s are significantly improved i would seriously suggest those to you. great for street and can even tracked if needed.

I used to be an M-1 guy, but once I put on the PP's I love em and wont switch back...i might try out the M-3's but I will probably stick with PP's.

I use to run Dunlops on everything, even have a set of 207gp on my zx9 still, but I have made the switch over to the Michelin Man. I run the Pilot Road on my ZRX1200 and love them. I noticed better turn in with zero head shake that I used to get with Dunlop Qualifers. They will last 10,000 miles and they stick very well for sprited street riding. I know that they are not the Pilot Powers that everyone uses but for most riding they work great plus they are great in the rain!

kidding.

Pilot Powers - been having good luck with them so far (about 8K) - warm up ok, worked well when I got caught in the rain and wasnt to bad in the early March chill.

They're also not the $$$$$$$ that the Dunlops (GPA) were. However, I've also heard good things about the Dunlop Qualifiers, just never tried them.

I also liked the Pirelli Diablo Corsas, for some reason I just like the way the handled a little better then the PPs.

After Monday's session on Main, im sold on the M3s. Once these go out, im getting another set. Theres just so much meat on them i never feel like im over too far. Definitly confidence inspiring for me, but im a B Grouper. One thing i noticed was on my old Pilot Power, the profile wasnt as round as the M3. Kinda hard to explain....

Yeah, I used to think the same thing until I tried the Pirelli Diablo Corsa III. Blows the powers and ct's out of the water.

After seeing Craig's Metzler's on Saturday, I don't know if I'd recommend them, but that was after some races.

The new Bridgestone BT002RS (I think that's the right number) are really good.

But, for all around streetability you won't beat the Corsa III

I just threw a set of pirelli diablo corsa 3's on and they are great so far. They seem to heat up a little faster than the pp and also have the dual compound like the 2ct's. Ive heard a lot of hype about them, so i decided to switch when my pp wore out. I guess ill really see how good they are next weekend at VIR
