Talking Vinyl Job on Fairings? - November 20, 2007, 09:39 AM

Someone is selling a complete set of Kawi ZX7-R plastics on ebay. They are ugly as homemade sin and will need to be painted ASAP, if I buy them. The seller says they were vinyled, not painted. So, does anyone know if that stuff comes off or can be adequately prepared for paint? I greatly appreciate anything you guys and gals have to offer.

Here's the linky for your viewing displeasure:

Vinyl peels off. Use a hair dryer to heat them up and peel. Any left over adhesive residue can be removed with an adhesive remover.

if it is vinyl it should pull off like a giant stick, if not just sand and paint. im thinking it is vinyl, i dont think anyone would pay for a paint job that took that long and looks that shitty.

Yes! Hair dryer only. DO NOT use a heat gun.

Thanks guys! Maybe I'll get lucky and see Kawi orange under that shiz.

Heck, maybe if I win that auction I'll put 'em on for a trip to da Spot for kicks before peeling. So pimp, BWAHAHAHAH!

Someone's willing to spend $455 on those. I'm not. Looks to me like they are aftermarket. You can see some gray primer on the RH lower. I can get a full set by Cheetah and not have to spend my time preparing them for the paint job.

So SteveZX9, is that you as the high bidder?
