What's the norm? - July 1, 2009, 10:40 AM

My R6 had some micro front turn signals installed by the previous owner... I took them off last night trying to make the bike legal but I'm not sure what to do about the holes in the fairings now. It doesn't look awful but I'm curious to know if there's some kind of block off plate or something that I should get or do people just leave the holes like that?

I don't usually mess with cosmetic crap on my bikes so pardon the ignorance (and I tried Google with no luck).

My bike has the turn signal holes b/c I've been meaning to get flush mounts just haven't...I know they do make the block off plates to fill the gap if you don't have turn signals.

VA law is that both left and right turn signals must be spaced 9in apart in the front and rear. However it is completely legal to run a bike without turn signals, BUT if you have working front or working rear than the others have to work as well...

currently I have integrated signals in the rear only less than 9in apart with a full saftey inspection. The guy at the station said why have a saftey inspection on a motorcycle...isn't it redundant.

I told him saftey is relative.

Nothing, took the rear ones off too. It's all or nothing in VA so it works but a search for 'R6 turn signal block off plates' brings back nothing... Just curious, I know you guys do all kinds of shit to your bikes so I figured I'd ask.

Yea, if you took them all off then either making something yourself, filler, or leaving them as is are about all you got if you can't find block offs.

I will never understand the laws of some states.
Take them all off is legal.
Using LED's not.
So you would rather me have nothing than something that just isn't DOT approved. Whatever!

Ive never heard of a cop harassing for aftermarket front signals. Go to a crappy gas station for inspection, and leave what was on there from the previous owner.
