Wiring dual headlights instead of single - August 4, 2008, 06:11 PM

Kicking around some ideas for a project - as part of it I'd like to set up two smaller headlights in place of a single larger one that I have now. I'd like to wire them so that one runs as the low beam and then when I switch to high they both come on. Has anyone done this or something similar?

I've poked around a little online and found one or two folks that have gone with dual lights on the same bike as mine, but they just ran both lights as the low. Someone I know suggested that I might need a diode. This sound like the right direction? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Get some hi/lo bulbs of what ever matches you bike. Get some relays if the stockers don't handle the load.....get out the Dremel

Oh, Check the wiring diagram. Kim's FZ6 had a wire dead ending in the frame to connect the factory installed hi/lo right side lamp. I forget the lamp number H7???

Thanks Space. Sounds like I've at least got a reasonable chance of pulling it off. Probably won't start on this for a little while, but I'll post up the results...whatever they are...when I'm done.
