ABUS Foldable Bike Lock - August 1, 2012, 09:46 AM

Interesting concept.
I wonder if it is more a visual deterrent than an actual physical deterrent.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

Visual deterrent is much of the game. Two similar bikes parked side by side, one with a visible lock, one not - which is going to get stolen?

Generally the crims are looking for an easy target - so any additional security makes it harder. A lock where you can secure it to something is better than a disc lock, which is better than no lock

- Throttle's on the right. So are the brakes. Good luck.

Just ordered one of these last week before the trip to Indy. Like everyone said, I'm more interested in its visual deterrence and the fact that it comes with a 110db high pitch alarm if anything is moved...

Got one of these for both bikes.

I bought the bright yellow one, also with the audible alarm.

At worst its something that might make someone look for an easier target.
