I'm looking for something between the stage1 to the ballistic and will consider the alter ego. I want to be able to wear over some work clothes, jeans would be the thickest but on occasion. Has anyone wore them over their clothes and how many sizes larger did you need to go. I'm about a 32-33/32. The stage 1 doesnt seem to offer as much protection but I'm sure it's better than jeans.

I have the ballistic pants from a year or 2 back (4.0 or 3.0). I'm about the same size as you and they fit nicely. I've worn them over jeans, khakis, etc. The zipper up the side is nice to have so you can take them off without taking your shoes/boots off. For $150, I'd say they're a pretty good deal. Crash tested at about 45mph and worked great.

I have a pair like this too...from 2 years back, and they work great. plenty of room to wear with jeans/khakis.

I just got the Alter Ego pants. They're going to be really sweet in the colder months, with their removable liner and bagginess.

Their sizing is pretty spot on. Just order whatever size they tell you too. They are adjustable if the button snaps aren't tight enough. The legs don't really adjust very much. There is velcro, but it's over the leg zipper, so if you tighten it it bunches really bad.

I only got a small patchable whole when I had a low speed low side. Didn't even go through the whole outer shell.
