Arai broke - June 5, 2007, 05:35 PM

Anyone have experience with the cisor flip thingy breaking off. Went to clean my shield and the tabs wouldnt pop up when the shield was open. I took a pen to get it to move and it rattkes out. Now my visor cant come off and opening and closing it sounds rough.

Its my only helmet and anyone have this problem and what did you have to do about it?

lol nah but seriously, it can be a little frail feeling but generally if the tabs some loose they'll catch back in if you play with it. Did you try removing the visor? The only reason it sould sound "ruff" is if the faceplate has bee detached from it's clips.

I cant get the tab back in and the visor wont come out. The other tab feels funny to and wont pop up to release the visor. And I dont know where the manual is.

Crefully pop off the side covers exposing the the plates. check the release lever to make sure that it did not come off its hinge. I end up replacing the side plate about once a year because they wear. Be carful with the clear plastic screws they break easily. Manassas Honda and sometimes MFI have a good selection of Arai parts.

I have an arai astral and had to replace some parts on one side, like what you are talking about. WAIT UNTIL WE TALK before doing anything. There is one way and one way only to dismantle that assembly, otherwise you will fack it all up.

If it turns out that you have a busted piece, I have the warranty number to call. Sending PM now.
