Bell Star fitment and cheek pads - June 25, 2015, 10:20 AM

Anyone swap out the pads that come in the helmet?

I found the helmet is a bit too tight. The helmet comes with 50mm thick firm pads, and there are options for firm or soft from 35mm to 50mm in 5mm increments.

Anyone done the swap, were the new pads the exact same as the old, pictures online dont seem to look so, but could just be stock old photos. Did the change in size or going from firm to soft help?

Anyone know if there is a local place I can pick them up?

Firm to soft helped me. They were identical in size, but after breaking in you could feel a noticeable difference in the amount of pressure it put on my jaws and cheeks.

Were the replacement pads exactly like the oem, they look to not have the tabs and skirt the current ones have in pictures. I know the pads are different from 09-12, and 13 and newer.

Mine was a 2009-12 model. They might have changed the pads since then.
I can't say whether they did or didn't have tabs.
I'm leaning towards No. They were press fit by grabbing the pad itself.
Will have to see when I get home.

Replaced top pad in mine. I bought an XS for a killer deal and made it a S (the shell and EPS are exactly the same there is just a top pad difference). No cheek pad replacement in my star but changed cheek pads in my moto 9 and that definitely was a huge difference. so yeah the padding does make a size difference. No idea about firm vs soft though those options weren't available.

BTW i got my star from sportbiketrackgear. they confirmed all of the fitment items (making sure the pads were the only difference between S XS) and when i received the order they completely waived the price of the extra pad. hows that for customer service!
