Bilt helmets and such - August 25, 2013, 01:49 PM

How's the quality in this brand? I know you get what you pay for. However, I've heard that stuff is manufactured in the same factory as other major brands...AGV, Bell, etc.

Thoughts?

The safety should be on par with any other DOT helmet.

The helmet is going to lack in finish and features like weight, airflow, wind noise.

Definitely agree on the second part.
Also agree for the most part on the quality/safety I would say yes if they both only have DOT and the same level of DOT then they are likely pretty close safety wise. But there are other saftey standards I would look into as well such as SNELL and ECE check this video:

I know looking at MX helmets the guy told me he would get SNELL and not just DOT... when I said I was interested in the BILT, he did say it's a decent helmet, but that he would recommend something a little "better" obviously take it with a grain of salt as they would love to sell the $150++ helmet vs the $80 one.

Will it protect your head? Sure. Will it be as nice as an Arai to wear? No.

Wouldn't surprise me if that helmet was actually made by HJC as they make a lot of helmets for many different brands.

Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if they were hjc. I can't honestly tell much difference between my Klim helmet and my hjc...

In which case it would be much better than simple knock offs. One reason being that HJC actually does aero studies on their models which makes a big difference when comparing it to the shells that are simple knock offs and are produced without wind tunnel modeling.

Joe Rocket bought the designs of their shells off of HJC. Some models are directly the same.

I was bored yesterday and made my way into the cycle gear store in springfield (va) and was introduced to Bilt and Sedici. Up to that point i had never heard of either, and yall kinda answered the quality questions about Bilt. What about Sedici?

Revzilla posted a promo code "lazershield" for a free photochromatic shield with purchase of a new helmet. I think you had to have both in your cart and then enter the promo code.
