Boots - September 1, 2011, 06:49 PM

So I sold my Sidi Vertigos due to fit issues. They were a bit tight on my feet (that was my dumb move), and mostly were too wide. I've been eyeing the Puma 1000s because mostly I know Puma makes narrower shoes, but I want to know what other options I have as far as narrow fitting. It will be used for track mostly (as soon as I can get my ass to the track ) since I have a pair of Puma Flats for the street. I'd like to get other opinions on the Pumas as well. I've also read Heist's review of the 1000s.

Thanks,

Wali

The Puma boots are sex, but I didn't find them any skinnier than the Sidis... then again I only wore them for a couple minutes in the shop.

I just got a pair of A* S-MX R boots and love them. They are just a little bit too narrow for me towards the front of the foot, but they're going to break in just fine.

Boots are like gloves. What fits me best might suck for you, and vice versa. I'm not a big fan of the way Sidis feel, but a lot of people love them. Tomato tomahto. Good luck. Better to buy a boot that's a little bit too small somewhere than big. Leather can be stretched and made bigger, it can't be shrunk.

Call up TJ at Riders Discount, they have great knowledge of how different boots fit, and can recommend products, plus, killer prices.

Do the A*'s have a narrower than usual fit?

Not from what I was told, I was told they are wider, which is my issue, I have wide feet, and TJ recommended the A*. Teknic also fit my wide foot well.

I wear the Puma 1000s and I have a wide foot. They are incredibly comfortable and the sole is pliable enough to be comfortable for all day on the street and even walking about. No real complaints except for the rear lace closure has a tendency to fray. Puma has acknowledged the concern and you get a free set of sliders every time you have to order a new set of laces. In one year of regular use I've only had to replace one lace.

A*'s are wide - but they also tend to come with a much wider calf area too.

This thread is pissing me off. I only say that because every time I see it pop up in new posts I keep thinking it's entitled Boobs. And it's not.....that is all.

Thanks guys. So far the Puma's sound really good. I'm talking to Mike over at RD and he's not really helping, he's just giving me prices for boots. I gave him a $300 price point and he recommended the SMX Plus. I don't want to buy A* because clearly they are for wider feet. Unfortunately they don't sell Pumas. Blehhhh.
