UPDATED 7/31/03 With 17 communicators and 3 intercoms, the prices will be $160/communicator and $54/intercom.

As mentioned before, since I don't want to be left holding the bag again, we will need to pay everything up front. I would like to get all of the money together and place the order by next Tuesday, August 3nd.

If you aren't sure what the Colletts are, here is a picture from the Collett Website ( http://www.collettcommunicators.com/ ):

I'll keep a list of who is interested here:

I'd definitely be interested in both the communicator and the intercom.

I already got a communicator but may look for an intercom. The communicator work well also and are fun.

Don't know if anyone saw my short compare contrast in another thread (dunno which one) of Collett Platinum vs Chatterbox. Abby and I use the Chatterbox GMRS-X1 which simply has a more powerful transmitter than the Chatterbox FRS-X2 which is an apples comparison to the Collett Platinum.

Collett Platinum vs Chatterbox FRS-X2 (the condensed comparison)
---------------------------------------------
battery: remote vs integrated
channels: 3 (factory preconfigured?) vs. 15 user selectable channels & 38 talk groups
range: 2 miles vs. 2 miles
useful speeds: 70+MPH for both
price: $200 vs $250 (list prices)

http://www.hjc-chatterbox.com/products_static.html

Before you make a bulk purchase, I'll gladly let you borrow ours to run a comparison. Quite frankly, I'm curious which is better.

I've got a set of custom earplugs and my Chatterbox headphones are not loud enough to hear. Cheap foam earplugs only stop about 1/3 of the sound of custom fitted plugs and would probably work. Todd was using foam plugs with his Communicator.

I've got a question about the Collett Communicators. Can you ever change the channel it is set to?

Todd and I have the Communicators, have mounted the headphones between the helmet shell and padding (kind of a pain to have the velcro'd ear pieces inside the helmet with you), and have worn earplugs. No probs hearing at all.

Hey Steve, did you say that your friend with the 900RR bumble bee wanted one? I can add him to the list if he does. Looks like there may be enough interest to look into what kind of a deal we could get.
