Convertible Textile Jackets? - December 5, 2012, 10:25 AM

Looking at replacing my textile jacket. I run this winter and summer until it gets too cold (<35, or >85), I have other jackets (leather etc) So Im looking for something with a removable liner, and either a lot of vents, or removable panels. Waterproof/resistant are also necessary.

Id like to hear suggestions/reviews. Not interested in leather unless it also has removable panels, or a bunch of vents.

Ive been looking at these:

Cortech by Tour Master GX Sport 3 Jacket :: MotorcycleGear.com

Joe Rocket Alter Ego 3.0 Jacket :: MotorcycleGear.com

Joe Rocket Ballistic 8.0 Jacket :: MotorcycleGear.com

Tour Master Transition Series 3 Jacket :: MotorcycleGear.com

Tour Master Flex Series 3 Jacket :: MotorcycleGear.com

We tested both the Alter Ego and the Ballistic. They have come a long way. Finish and features on the jackets are both up from previous lines.

The Alter Ego presents a pretty serious bang for the buck. Several members here have one. It also has slightly better armor than the Ballistic (back)

Ballistic is more of a touring type of jacket. Might be a better fit for commuting. Personal preference and fit also come into play.

I have the Flex as well and it is very versatile. I would definitely buy it again.

I have the Alter Ego 3.0 and it is bad ass. Rode around in pouring rain one day, cell phone in the pocket stayed 100% dry. Good all-year jacket
