Talking crash-tested gear pix: fieldsheer congo sport textile and astars cargo pants - March 13, 2007, 09:03 PM

title says it all, i didn't think there were enough pix of gear AFTER it's been downed, so i thought i'd take some pix of mine after lowsiding at roughly 40-50mph... FS jacket did great, i landed right on my forearm/knee, and although the outermost elbow-covering tore up pretty nicely, it didn't crack the flexible lining underneath or the plastic CE-armor under that. the seam on the outer part also tore up a little, and so did the volume-strap. all in all i was impressed for a $140 jacket, and i'll definitely get some more of their stuff in the future.

as for the astars pants, i knew they'd hold up pretty well and they did. they look and feel like thick-denim, but the knee's fabric didn't tear (though it did fray in a couple of spots). the ONLY problem with these is that they didn't have any hip protection, so i got a lil bruise on my left hip. also, i hit the left side, but my RIGHT knee ended up getting a lil skinned thanks to the CE-armor scraping up against it.

yeah i'm totally fine, thanks for asking, that bruise and very small knee scrape were the worst of it. basically i got into a low-speed tankslapper thanks to a lil bit of sand or something slippery, and gently "flew" off, hehe. worst damage to the bike was that the oil reservoir cover cracked, and pretty much all the oil slowly leaked out, that wasn't too fun. luckily though, the total cost of the damage wasn't too bad ($250-ish) and hoping to get it back by monday.

got em from motorcycle-superstore: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...113&Division=1

btw, i disagree with the first review that says the pads move around, when on my bike (which is a sportbike anyway, so my knees are up) they don't move around at all. if anything, they hang a little lower than your knee when you're standing up straight, so i have no idea how that guy claims his ride backwards to the thigh.

I'm a Skins fan. I hate the A-star logo.
