Early Christmas! - November 29, 2010, 07:46 PM

Yes! Got the helmet I wanted! STG had this marked down to $335 for a while but I didn't like it enough to pull the trigger at that price. Then when they dropped it to $250 over the weekend it sold out in my size before I could get one. I Googled about a million places and made a bunch of calls but nobody had it in stock. Then Jason from STG called me saying they found a random box full of these things; sure enough, one in my size. Big props to him for remembering me and calling me up! Great helmet + cool graphics + fantastic price = AWESOME DEAL!

Great helmet + WEAK graphics+ reasonable price= decent deal....

I like Shark helmets but they are SO DAMN light to me it's a NEGATIVE...b/c it feels like I'm NOT wearing anyting on my head at all...IMO that is not a plus for me...I like to know I have on a helmet and I like the know the helmet isn't so light that it feels like an eggshell....but that is just me.

Great helmet. I have 2 of that model and love it. Don't listen to Talkofnotaclue. The fact that is the lightest helmet makes it a great one for less fatigue which means more riding. also during the summer man does it vent good. Let him buy heavy helmets to wear.

No worries. It's my third one of that model and I'm stoked to get it at that price but to each his own. Now I just have to figure out a graphics scheme for my new bodywork...

Sharks are greatastic! I have the older RSR-1. Lightest helmet ever! And the shield feels bulletproof thick. F1 spec. I'm surprised more helmet manufacturers aren't doing this.

Lighter than OGK?

What is so special about their shields?

I like this paint scheme. It really comes down to personal preference.

Until I can weigh an OGK yes Sharks are the lightest so far. Never seen an OGK either so not sure really how good of a helmet it is. As far as the shield goes it is 3mm thick. I never really cared about that until I slammed face down on the pavement at around 30mph and the slid on the face shield for about 50 feet. Shield did not break and was still usable. Also a very good locking plate keeps the shield on and allows any adjustment from slight vent to full open without getting loose.

Yes.
About the only thing lighter than the Shark RSR series are the super expensive Schuberth and Vemar full CF.
Webbike World has a weight chart. Go take a look.
Motorcycle Helmet Weights - webBikeWorld

As for the shield, this is my older RSR-1 -

You probably can't tell but the RSR shield is another 1.5mm thicker. Highly durable - you can bend them inside out and it won't snap and they resist impact stars, chips, and scratching damn well.

The 3mm thickness is Formula One spec and considering Felipe Massa took a xlbs? spring right to the face at 150 mph in Hungry last year, and the shield didn't splinter or break tells you thicker is better (especially when its the weakest part of the helmet)
