EXO-1000 review - March 24, 2008, 10:37 AM

So saturday morning went out looking for a new helmet had in mind a SHARK RSI but it fit my head funny so it was out (price tag was $350)
I used to have an EXO-700 scorpion and was looking at just grabbing one for now and accidentally grabbed a 1000 w/o noticing. After spending about 20 min debating on what I wanted and how things fit I picked up the EXO-1000.

This is what I got EXO-1000 Matte Black

Comfort is great snug fit. Then with the air pump you can really snug up from your ears to the sides of your chin and aids to keep a little extra wind out of the helmet. I don't particularly find it a useful feature though because the difference inflated vs non isn't too noticeable with how the helmet fits me.

The venting is good (I didn't want to test it too much cause its COLD) and easy to use. just push front or back and they tilt up/down. My head has stayed pretty warm so i'm happy. Also there hasn't been any fogging with the helmet.

Visors, the tilt down sun visor is pretty nice (3 color options available) though its a "light smoke" I find its about .5" too short as the cut off line is at the bottom of my vision but it doesn't bug me at all. I might swap to a blue tint inner visor while running a dark smoke/silver mirror outter visor.

Weight is slightly heavier than the SHARK RSI and price was $30 cheaper

overall I'm pretty happy with the helmet
8/10 on my uneducated rating scale

That was the #1 thing I hated about that helmet. Stupid thing is too damn short. Glad it doesn't bug you tho...

Just seems like a bit of a price premium for gimmicky features when you could just two 700s for that price...

air pump? Whats that all about?

When I sold helmets Scorpions were still fairly new and were an easy sell. All my customers really appreciated the features for the money. I dont know anything about the EXO-1000, educate me.

I am a helmet snob. I will not ride without the best. I will pay the money for an Arai. I have 2 of them now and have zero complaints I believe they are worth every single penny.
