GEAR that I crashed in and.... - June 23, 2006, 09:32 PM

I approve to buy again as my gear in the future... My injuries are as follows double digit break of my tibia, fractured hip, L1 and L2 for the worst. Bruising of hip area from impact, shoulder, and small area of arm for the minor injuries...

Gear that saved my back and then some...

Fieldsheer Revo 2-piece suit - perforated top and bottom with GP armor minus the back( just foam).

Alpinestars GP Plus gloves - decent armor padding, kinda tight at first until broken in and I didn't like the uneven length gauntlet

Sidi Vertebrae 2 Boots - These are discontinued and replaced by Vertigo boots

Alpinestars Tech Race Back Protector - CE level 1 approved and labeled, hard plates and CE absorption material combination, adjustable waist and shoulder straps.

For more information for the following items -
www.fieldsheer.com
www.alpinestars.com
www.motonation.com

The REVO suit had no wear thru at all, seams held up, only had leather burn since I was sliding on my hip and shoulder area for most of the trip. The burn area was about the size of a half dollar.

Gloves did their job when my hand was on the pavement touching.

Sidi Boots for the most part did their job but in my case a high energy impact couldn't be helped, something had to break.

Alpinestars Tech Race back protector did a WONDERFUL job from the impact. I slid and felt the rock wall impact on my back and felt the protector absorb most of the impact and distribute it evenly across my entire back. The hard plates kept the rocks from me and distributed the force of impact nicely<---- I can attest that IF I had not worn this ONE piece of gear, I would not be walking nor have the chance of walking. EMTs at the scene was very happy I had the gear that I had worn that day, as it minimized my injuries. The ER doctors also confirmed when they cut the gear off of me. I WAS LUCKY the injuries I sustained was all that it was.

WEAR YOUR GEAR

Sorry you had to use the gear, but glad it was worn and did its job. Your type of impact is why I bought a back protector. Heal fast.

Great testament to wearing gear. I haven't seen a ton of people wearing back protectors on the street, but I always wear mine. I figure there is a greater need for it on the street. I'm glad you had yours on! And thanks for posting this!

Get well!
