Good street/work boots that will not break the bank? - September 25, 2008, 03:53 PM

Alright, so I've not been riding that long, but the boots i have are wearing out fast. I'd love to replace them with something thats nice enough i can wear into work. Polo, Jeans and the like style boots, so nothing with a huge logo on them or anything. While I'd love sidi boots they are a little too expensive for me, so what am I left with?

Get a pair of those boots the cops wear. That's what I use for commuting. Any self-respecting Army/Navy surplus store carries them. They are very comfortable and hold up really well. Plus they don't look bad either.

These are real nice except for one thing. The ridges that are supposed to take the abuse from shifting is placed across the wrong area, therefore you will have some scuffs in the right area NOT where the ridges are located.

Warm and will keep your feet dry, good padding inside, more so than a regular boot around your ankles.

Plus, it has the buckle to tighten and keep those laces out of harm's way.

I bought mine from Sree for a kickass deal

Good boots are worth it... yea I would rather see someone in Setup boots then tennis shoes, but its a good idea to save a little more and get somethign that will last for years and provide excellent protection.

40 bux for Timberland style w/built-in protection. Got a pair of A*s for weekend/aggressive riding, but these are great for work, going out, errands, etc. Actually felt more sturdy than the Setups IMHO

When you are a new rider, you are mostly relying on luck to survive. You start with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience -- the idea is to fill up the experience bag before the luck bag runs out.

Thanks for the ideas guys! I'll try to stop by Devil Dawg this weekend, since I need to be in that area after work anyway.
