helmet art....pinups? - March 17, 2008, 08:53 PM

Ive been searching for a helmet that i like that features some sort of pinup art, ie the older icon damnation, kbc force/airborne and the suomy (sp?) pinup helmet. Im just shopping around at the moment but lookin for other ideas that I may have missed. Unfortunetly I dont have the money to have a helmet custom painted (If I did, I'd have a nicer bike ) I had thought about buying a mat black helmet and doing a decal but think that might not be a very 'professional' looking job and might not hold up that long. If anyone has some suggestions, I would apprcieate it.

I had seen that one...and there are 2 icons 'eternal sinner' and 'eternal angel' but no way i can drop 3 bills on a helmet. If i could i could probably have one done to my own specs.

Helmet skins has some and will make just about anything on an idea according to the web site I saw a couple weeks ago. They slip on the helmet and have the dot matrix for the faceshield. Price was like 28.00 bucks...Personall have not used them yet but was concidering it.

Back to pin-ups; unless you want to go with one of the premade, I personaly would do a image search for pinup art or models and get something custom.

If you have a description of what you're looking for, post it up.

Good question.

I think I'd go with glossy on a solid color, or have the painter just have free reign.
...but matte finish is good, too.

Did you know they make "decal" printer paper? I've worked with the water-slide version myself with great success and I've considered using them on my bikes.

You may have to go online. It costs about $1/page, so $20 for a pack of 20. You can get clear paper or white. Your colors will be truer with a white background, but that might not work with a black helmet. Anyway, you can print our your favorite non-copyright-protected images for your helmet. If you choose the clear paper, you can then PAINT over the decal to improve the colors and still get a professional looking product. You can buy a cheap air-brush gun at Micheal's for $20 (or borrow ours) for better results.
