Helmet for track use - April 22, 2010, 08:07 AM

Hello..how are you?
For track use Scorpion Exo-700 or Bell Arrow?
I know that the Arrow is farely new so there is not much info or experience with it, but perhaps some of you seasoned riders have experience with the Bell line and can give out some valuable information.
The Bell retails at 100 and Scorpion 110, so not much difference in price.
Thank you in advance

I believe the cornerspeed instructors use scorpion. I see bell around but at the track - I'd have to say I see more scorpion.

I have a Scorpion and really like it. Don't forget, you might be more likely to wreck at the track so don't go bottom of the barrel with your helmet.

Any Scorpion remarks I post will be received as sponsor dick rubbing. I'll just say that they are comfortable, reasonably quiet, and have always worked for me when I needed them. That goes for all the EXO-700's I've used roadracing and my VX-17 dirt helmet. I expect the same out of my new VX-24.

The 400 fits very similar to the 700 but I like the 700 better overall.

I used to love OGK. That was a mean looking helmet. They are also BSI rated which means they are solid.

That said, I still like my Scorpions more. They are a bit quieter and less prone to buffeting at high speeds. They are also a bit quieter but I wear ear plugs now so that's not really an issue. Shields are also easier to swap.

The important thing to remember here is that you need to find a helmet that fits YOU and comes with both Snell and DOT ratings. If it's got those, (particularly Snell) then your dome is as safe as it can be.

I had an exo1000, i liked the fit (didn't like the weight) and really like the customer service that Scorpion provides. I think i was mostly interested in info on the Bell, but again, it's probably too new
