Help picking new jacket!! - November 12, 2009, 09:50 PM

Leather or textile if I can get the Alpin it will run around $90 and $149 for the yosh but hate the logo on it but it's leather and has CE rated pads stock the back protector on the textile is not to par.

No one around here has the yosh jacket in stock so I can't figure out if I need a L or XL I am 6ft5 and most jackets in large fit great in the torso but are normally short or tight in the arms.

Right now I have a damaged XL textile FieldSheer that fit good but was damaged in a recent wreck and is in good shape other than the melted zipper from the slide.

Not a fan of camo in civis but this thing looks damn good.

Any input on quality/ fit on these two I am leaning more towards the yosh but that logo I am thinking the leather will be better for year round but man I hate cooking my balls in the summer.

No one on here rides.

I posted over on smj. I'll add here that the problem with my Astars jacket is that the snaps and zipper pullers or whatever you call the things that you grab hold of to zip and unzip are rubbish, pure rubbish.

Are they just small; or do they break?

I hope I get more hits on this site considering everyone here knows what the climate/ gay ass rain is like here.

My main zipper thing broke off and so I put on a key ring. The zipper is actually good, just the grabber broke easily and was cheap crap. Now I have a snap on one of the cuff closures that broke. It's not like I use it that much either. Kinda disappointing. However, the jacket in essence is a fantastic street jacket. All leather, excellent grain, no frills. I've been down in it twice, and it saved me from having a broken elbow the first time for sure. I'd probably ignore the cheap ass fasteners and go with Astars again next time.

I'd go with leather. 100% better and worth being hot in the summer if/when you go down.

Joe Rocket SuperMoto Leather-Mesh Jacket

Retail: $399.99 Closeout: $149.99
  • 1.2mm to 1.4mm Cowhide for maximum abrasion resistance
  • Dual density armor for elbows and shoulders
  • Removable spine pad with pocket for optional CE spine protector
  • Molded plastic external shoulder and elbow armor for extreme protection and to help reduce damage to the jacket in the event of a crash
  • Molded shoulder ventilation air scoops
  • Free-air™ perforated leather ventilation system
  • Free-air™ poly/mesh sleeve panels for extreme ventilation

I think its pretty damn ugly but its cheap and looks to be sturdy; leather where you need it and ample armor.
