Info/Opinions on Kali Helmets? - November 1, 2012, 11:51 AM

Kali Protectives

Yeah, yeah but they make helmets.

Seriously, has anyone heard of these guys? Know anything about their products?

I've only worn Arai and they make a helmet that fits me very well but I recently came across some test results that indicate Arai isn't quite as much protection as I thought. I've been looking around at other helmets and trying to decide if I'll change as it's about time to get a new one.

A dealer I trust is going to add Kali to their offerings. I've never heard about/seen Kali before so I thought I'd see if you guys know anything about them.

Kali's mountain bike and motocross helmets are great. Lots of features and good prices. Their qc is very good as well.

Their dirt helmets are nice. I didn't know they made anything for the street.

Their dirt helmets get good reviews... try one on, if it fits you I say go for it. What head shape are you? I have a long oval, so sucks when it comes to helmet buying time for me... I also wear Arai, but that's just because I haven't found a helmet that fits me better than the Profile/ Signet yet.

I have the Kali Naza Carbon helmet in red / white.

It's really nice and super light. Comfortable, solid airflow, decent noise level.

The strap is so-so if I had to pick a problem. It doesn't synch up as well as I would like. I wold 100% recommend the lid though.

My favorite helmet is my Arai Signet-Q though by far. Which also could use a little chin strap adjustment. The padded fabric should be a half inch longer.

Thanks NateDieselF4i.

Can you compare the noise level to the Arai?

I like my Arai helmet as it's very comfortable (Vector so I'm an oval) and if I have any complaint it's noise. I just wish Arai's had come through the Sharp system testing better. They tested six models (no Vector) but they all came out weak in the temple, half had the worst rating with none better that mid-range protection.

If I'm going to change anyway I'd like to find something quieter.

I'm an oval as well (Signet-Q) and the Kali fits me well.
Not as perfect as the Signet-Q but nice.

It's somewhere between my Bell Vortex Attack and Arai as far as loudness goes.

I haven't worn it too much to be honest. A couple track sessions and maybe 3-4 times on the street. But the noise never seemed excessive like it does with my Bell.

It looks nice and is very soft material against your face. Comes with a badass bag too. Like a legit zip type deal.

Would you share which dealer is going to start carrying them? I might like to check one out in person.

I've used the dirt helmets. I was curious about their street offerings, I didn't even know they had any.

I bought mine this summer on my cross country motorcycle trip in Boise Idahoe at monsterparts.com and had it sent to my house.

Revzilla also carries them.

Bought a Naza Carbon for my wife to replace an older Shoei RF800 and she loves it. It's much lighter that her old helmet (much lighter than my RF1100 or Arai XD4 too). She says it's much more comfortable and quieter than her old helmet. It certainly seems to be well made but she's only had it for a month or so, not enough time to really tell how well it'll hold up.

Comes with a nice helmet bag (a real carry bag in addition to the standard "sock" that most decent helmets come with) as well as a second set of tighter cheek pads.

Got hers at Loudoun Motorsports for a pretty good deal.

Village Motorsports in Unionville. I talked to Mona last week, she's the one that told me about Kali. I don't know when they'll have them but I have some time before I really need one so I'll look there when they do.
