Jacket fit - March 17, 2006, 06:15 PM

As mentioned elsewhere, I'm a newb...I looked around a bit and haven't seen the answer to this, so if it exists somewhere in a FAQ or whatever I apologize

I understand that a riding jacket should be a snug fit. But what exactly happens if you wear one that is a bit too loose and you fall?

I ask because I wanted to get a good jacket...a retailer was having a closeout on some of last year's J.Rocket stuff, so I picked up one for a good price...problem was they only had a 42 and 40 is actually my "best fit" size. As a result, the jacket fits well in the arms and waist but probably has a little more slack farther up the sides than is probably ideal.

The jacket still fits pretty well overall, and obviously it's better than not having one at all, but am I setting myself up for some kind of significantly greater injury if I go down?

Any thoughts/feedback would be appreciated.

you want the leather snug so it slides. If it was really loose it would bunch up and cause more harm than good. It's also not a bad idea to get a street jacket slightly bigger so you can fit more clothes underneath for cooler weather. also with time and use the leather will stretch some.
