Yup dumping the older tires. Most sites this time of year do this.

Follow the commodities market? Check out what has happened to oil prices in the last several months.
Biggest raw material cost in synthetic tires is oil which is synthesized to make isoprene.
Your average car tire has about 6-7 gallons of oil in it.
Add on the cracking cost, and then the profit margin stack from distributor to retailer and it probably yields a $5-10 per tire cost increase.

Not even factoring all the other polymers and chemicals that go into a tire. Presuming these went up in cost as well.

I'm looking for a set for the 04 R6, used, since I'm not going to be rocking the track for a while, PM me if anyone is looking to sell a decent used set, trying to get around 60% plus tire tread if possible

I have two Dunlop sets with 40%-50% tread life left on them. Was going to use them for trackdays. Also have two sets of Michelin Power Ones with 25 hot laps on them. I get about 45-60 laps before they'er done.

I can email photos. Also have a few sets of 120/160 takeoffs from the SV.

Nice, thanks B, I'll shoot ya a PM soon, I would just like a fresher set of tires for the R6, right now I'm riding on tires that are 2 years old, and are starting wear down pretty low.

So these tires wouldnt be good to get, even if they were only used for about 3 months and mainly on the street, with a few TDs? I mean honestly, these prices arent great to begin with, STG has Q2s 180 set for like $220 right now(im guessing they are getting rid of old tires too?), but i was just curious since im sure other companies do this.

^^^Sure they would.
So long as they were stored correctly.
Most distributors will cut prices to make space for the newer model.
