leathers - perforation needed? - May 24, 2007, 11:12 AM

Since I'm thinking about doing trackdays, I'm looking into buying some used leathers on Ebay. Given the DC summers, is it necessary (comfort-wise) to get perforated leathers? Does anyone have experience with non-perforated leathers with vents in the arms and back?

Thanks in advance.

non-perf sucks
I have a non-perf suit
I want to get it perfed

if you haven't already bought it, and can get perfed for close to the same price, get perfed.

if you found unbelievable awesome deal on non-perf (as I did) buy it, and get it perfed

That's an idea. How do you get perforation done? I'm assuming that it's not a do-it-yourself kind of thing.

Many leather shops can do it, basically its a grid of hollow needles on a block + mallet

Yao told me about a place, but I can't remember the name.

Now...if you haven't bought it, just get it perfed, its not worth the hassle. The only reason I went this way is I got a ducati corse Dianese full suit for $650 bucks...(regularly $1500ish)...if its a matter of 5-200 bucks difference, just get the perf suit

If you want to sweat like a stuffed turkey in a oven and lose weight go with non-perf. When sitting still the perf is still hot but when moving its like the ac has been turned on.
