Medical Information Carrier for helmets - July 30, 2007, 01:59 PM

In light of TheIrishGuy's family not being found quickly yesterday (which may have just been because they were in transit and not because nobody had their info), I remembered these medical information carriers for helmets.

I had one, but don't know where it went...anyway, I am going to order $20 worth of them. I have arranged with the company to get a buy one get one free deal. They are only normally $1.99 each, but I will get them for $1 each...So, basically 40 for $20.

I do not want any money for them. I will carry them with me and if you see me and want one, just ask. If I run out, I will get more.

I think it's important - especially when riding alone or with people in a group who don't know each other very well. I always like to think that someone would be able to access my cell phone if I went down and call people from that, but you never know if that will even be in one piece after a crash.

They're defintiely a really good idea and everyone should have one on their helmet. Thanks for thinking of others!

Where exactly do they go?

I think thats an AWESOME idea, and personally think they should come with the helmet when you buy it.

They have those for carseats too..CHAD stickers.

I think you can just put it on the back of your helmet...near the DOT sticker?

I wonder if I should talk to a paramedic and see if they see these on the streets...and if so, do they have a preference of where we put them?

Anyone on here know the answer to this?

Plus if you carry a cell phone you should have a I.C.E. number! I.C.E. = In case of emergency.

I'm an EMT / Fire Fighter I can say it's rare for one of use to look at a helmet, especially if the incident is bad. Generally the info is looked for at the hospital. but they're still a good idea

That's correct.

I have that on one of my helmets. I believe it was one of the requirements to run a TPM trackdays, and I just kept it on for street riding.

Also, sometimes the contact info changes, so be sure to update the info on there if you have your helmet for years.

I think for TPM, we had it on the side of the helmet so the head doesn't have to be moved. I'm sorry about what happened this weekend and that hopefully everyone will learn from this. Great suggestion Roberta and for those that go to track days, even to watch, pick up some more so Roberta's stock doesn't run out. Be well all.

Thank's for doing that and looking out for other riders Roberta.
Personally I've alway's kept a laminated card in my wallet and
riding jacket pocket with contact info containing family and friends
numbers as well as My Doc's number. Carrying that card and wear
clean underwear was drilled into me by dear old mom when I started
driving/riding. I hope my fellow .netters will either get the sticker or
have contact info somewhere on them easy to find in case God forbid
something happens.

As stated in other threads, but I feel it ought to be repeated, keep your contact information in several different forms and places. A laminated card in both your pants pocket and your jacket, an ICE number in your cell phone, AND the helmet sticker will help out our overworked and underpaid emergency personnel.

Just my 2 cents.

Great Idea. I actually asked some friends to grap one of those while they were at VIR this weekend. I am entering an ICE number into my phone right now.
