My awesome new Troy Lee Apex Jacket - June 18, 2011, 08:54 PM

I've been looking for a jacket that allows enough air to pass through to my body and have enough protection for my man hide. I went to Colemans originally planning on getting a Joe rocket mesh jacket with some leather on it but they were out. I wandered around for a while with my lady and came across the Troy Lee Design Apex jacket in black. It's a very light jacket with a zip in wind liner, it's much like the Icon field armors but the armor is incorporated into the jacket on the back, elbows and shoulders. I've riden in the jacket just once today since it started to rain and I am impressed. Apparently they just got these in this month or late last month, it was in the 200ish range. I'll update if I have any issues for for now I really like it....they don't have it listed on the site so here are some pics of it. One note I thought was strange about it is the zipper is the dual stype where you can unzip from the top or bottom.

and another with the front showing, I got the all black one

Looks like Troy Lee's site has a purchase page for the jacket but no brochure-style page:

Troy Lee Designs®*|*Apex Air Jacket Black

Is there any mention of CE rating for any of the armor?

I do love some TLD gear, and this is a pretty good lookin jacket. Let us know how it turns out because I feel an upgrade coming in the near future.

update; The jacket has been pretty rockin, it's decent in the heat, light mist rain doesn't get through, jacket is light and fairly flexible for an armor jacket. A few things to keep in mind; if you ride to somewhere with a backpack the backpack may poke your neck because the shoulder pads push them closer, it's hard to take off backpacks, the arm fabric is not super soft but not harsh, oh and the back armor does make ya sweat(at least for me). Great jacket for the price and people always look at it curiously.

How is it in this heat? Does the mesh do good for ventilation?

it works much better than my leather. The only part on me that sweats in high heat is my back, where that armor is.
