Need advice - May 28, 2008, 11:13 AM

I'm looking to get A* cargo pants but I dont know if thats enough protection being new. The A* A-10 pants would offer more protection but I dont want to look like racer wanna be guy. I'm thinking my legs are worth the extra protection though. Advise?

My biggest concern with these cargos is that, whatever you put in your pockets could end up hurting you.

Let me know what you end up getting cause I'll be curious to hear your review. I'm picking up my new jacket tonight, boots are next, then pants asap.

From those two options, I would go for the A10 pants...more protection = more gooder. Who cares if you look like a "racer wanna be"? (I've been wearing full leathers when I ride recently, but I don't race, nor have I hit the track yet.) You could look a lot worse if you happen to wreck in cargos or jeans. Protect the skin you have...aftermarket doesn't look as good as stock.

I agree that "cargo" pants won't help you much in a get-off if you put stuff in the pockets. Other things to consider are reflectors. Pants don't need much reflectors (piping is okay) but the more, the merrier. Also, do you have an AlpineStars jacket? Zipping your pants to your jacket adds safety to your gear. My riding pants fit only one of my two jackets, but when I use my summer jacket, I find myself always zipping up to protect my back.

Otherwise those look pretty good.

I'd say go for the A10's as well.

I'll be in the same boat soon, when my old pants dont fit anymore. (They are already way too long)

249 USD? The price looks like the same as getting full leather pants instead of a mix between leather and textile? Did you check "Joe Rockets"? http://www.joerocket.com/productJR.cfm?products_id=1022

I have an A* jacket so I can zip them on. Just dont want any hassle with it. I also like em because I think they'll be cooler on hot days.

They won't do for track use, but I'm really happy with my mesh pants (even though they're ghetto-ass TourMaster )

http://www.newenough.com/protective_...cle_pants.html

They attach to my jacket (also mesh) and they're super-easy to deal with. I pull them on over jeans or shorts for my commute. They're much more comfortable than jeans for riding, and a hell of a lot more protection.
