New boots....what to buy? - December 14, 2009, 09:23 PM

I'm looking at buying a new pair of riding boots, but honestly I have no idea what to buy (Sidi, Alpinestars, AGV, Spidi....) I'm looking for a nice fitting, good all around boot that will offer a good amount of protection and has replaceable toe sliders and such. (my size is around 11.5)

I don't want to spend more than $250 and I will be using these boots for trackdays as well as riding on the street. Where should I begin my search, any places that you've used where you've found the best all around deals? Online or store? Thanks

I was thinking something like these:

IMHO, a good all around boot would be Teknic Violators... here's why.

Nicely padded inside, NOT just around the base of the boot but top to bottom making comfy for street use. Good armor with adjustable buckle to snug down the top front of your feet. Replacable sliders, and it now ONLY (only down part for me) comes waterproof! I personally only got my feet soaked coming back in heavy downpour from Pa BBQ even then it wasn't bad.

Feel is just like my SIDI vertabraes and Alpinestars Supertech boots I had previously. Comfort wise for me close to wearing Tims or ICONs.

Sportbiketrackgear had these and did a review on them as well. Good price back then!

+1 I've tried the Sidi vertibra and Alpinestars and neither of them fit as well as the Vertigos. They are light and allow great movement. Good protection also.

^ thats what I was looking into at first, becuase I know the 2010 gear will be coming out (or might already be out) very soon, so hopefully there will be some great price cuts soon

I feel as if white boots would look good, but are they "over doing it" you think? It would be pretty unique, don't see full white boots very often

they almost seem to be off white, but they do look really good, maybe I'll just get these, plus they are a good price

I have white dirt bike boots (for SM) and they look disgusting after a handful of uses. I would advise against white.
