Ok the time has come - October 2, 2006, 09:46 AM

So Ive been buggin the crap out of everyone with these threads. Which helmet, jacket, etc...

Well I got all the info I think I will use.

So I was think about either the JR Sonic 2 or Icon Motorhead Jacket. Quite honestly I like the icon jacket better (CE vs dual armor, vents vs removal panels.)

Any other opinions good or bad from people who owned these jackets? Thanks.

As far as helmets Im torn between the hjc ac-12 and shoei Rf-1000. Not looking at price. Safety is my concern. Whats you head worth blah blah. Ive seen the studies. A <$100 Z1R helmet proved better than a $700 arai so money doesn't always mean better.

I just want to know about comfort after periods of time and wind noise. I have tried both on but not for extended periods.

I have both a shoei and an arai and have noticed that the wind noise in my shoei is less.... I find that the Shoei is more comfortable... to me anyway... all depends on your head shape and what YOU find comfortable.
I found that the Arai was a little uncomfortable around the ears... but then again, it's all in what you find comfy...

my two cents...

Wow. Just..................wow.

Your z1r is a noisy bitch. And will likely fall apart in due corse. My KBC started to innthree days. Crash protection itself among reputable helmets is pretty good nowadays. Its the comfort level that costs money. Comfort = less exhuastion = paying more atention to your surroundings. Get the best helmet you can afford.

Seriously, do yourself a favor and look into Scorpion helmets, for quality, comfort, noise, venting, and price I don't think they have any competition at the moment.

So does "decided" mean you are planning to purchase a VFR, or do you already have it?

Draven its true. Like someone said though it is a noisy helmet. Has to do with snell helmets let more g-forces through to the soft tissue. Basically the Dot only helmets solids fail quicker thus dissipate any shock forces to the soft tissue. Because Snells are harder they vibrate more and send those vibrations to the skull, which is a bad thing.

planing. I got quoted an 06 VFR ABS OTD $10900. Of course I will wait till Nov or Feb to purchase. It just depends on how the finances are and whether I want to stretch myself thin.

Um, it's based on "G's" returned to the skull on impact. There were several "cheap" helmets that outperformed Arai along with many of the other "Snell Approved" helmets.
