Pants for winter/summer - June 24, 2014, 08:58 AM

Hi, I'm new to the DC area and I currently am sporting regular jeans (terrible I know) and I commute everyday to Herndon. So, I need to get a better pair of pants and am looking for advice for what to get that are good for the summer, and hopefully, as well for the winter.

Thanks!

I have a pair of Tourmaster Flex pants. Remove the shell for mesh pants, put shell back on for textile pants. They are not waterproof however, so you'd still need rain gear. The other issue is that they're black. Can get a little toasty if you're sitting in the sun waiting on traffic to get a move on.

ETA: I forgot... there is a water proof lining that comes with the pants as well as a thermal lining. I just don't use those because I have Gerbings liners I use in the winter and just use these pants as overpants for them.

I wear these HURRICANE H2OUT PANTS - Motorcycle pants and jeans. I like them because they are not only good for all seasons and waterproof, but also easily layered over other pants. They are a little pricey (can get a better deal via Rider's Discount), but worth every penny.
