Passport G-Timer (and Much More!) - February 3, 2006, 02:28 PM

Self proclaimed Gadget Reporter checking in.

The G-Timer is a self-contained, fully automated accelleration/decelleration computer. It will show your 1/4-mile times, accelleration time, braking distance, and G-forces. It will also estimate your effective horsepower (both peak and average).

Two versions of the G-Timer are available: the GT1 ($99) has a 32-character backlit LCD display, and saves the most recent timed run in memory. The GT2 has a much brighter blue vacuum-flourescent display with more display data choices than the GT1. The GT2 ($179) also stores 10 timed runs in its internal memory, and can interface with a computer to download data from your test runs (optional cable available from Escort). The GT2 also includes a remote button that you can position in a convenient location to select modes and start timed runs without having to reach for the G-Timer box.
The G-Timer's accuracy can also be affected by accelleration lift; if the front wheel comes off the ground you'll probably have inaccurate accelleration data.

Installation is simple, just Velcro the G-timer in place and plug in the cigarette cord. You will, obviously, need a cigarette socket on a bike to use this product - you can either install a permanent one or wire up something temporarily.
