From Engadget.com
Quote:
Putting a clear pane in the back of a motorcycle helmet, viewable via a front-mounted mirror, might seem like an obvious idea in, er, hindsight, but it took helmet manufacturer Reevu to make it a reality. The company’s MSX1, which has been the worst-kept secret in biker circles for several years, has finally made its official debut, at the EICMA show in Milan. The helmet relies on a distinctive raised crown, which provides a clear line of sight from front to back, enabling the mirror — made of unbreakable reflective polycarbonate — to capture the view from the rear. The helmet is expetcted to be available worldwide at about $399 early next year.

Looks clear like a real rear view mirror....I think it would distract the hell out of me.

I doin't get the point. If you're on the street your mirrors are right there. If you're on the track the only thing that matters is in front of you.

Either that Code section didn't load when I first saw this or you just edited it. I now understand.

Even the products website doesn't show how it works.

I'd imagine there is a mirror in the front that bounces off, at least, one big mirror on top to view out of the back. The dome shape is the "key" somehow.

That web site has been up for 2 years saying "any day now" ...

I've been checking it for over 24 months.

What about sun or headlight glare? Is there a way to 'turn it off'?

The helmet has a series of reflective surfaces that limit the intensity of light hitting the front reflective surface. This limits the intensity of reflected light significantly. Even a slight turn of the head can ensure the reflective light path is stopped. Find out more on the safety & design page.
