Shoei Visor ? - January 26, 2010, 01:18 PM

Ok, didn't see this, so sorry if a repost.

I am getting a new x-eleven, and had a couple of questions about the visors.

The mirror visor, how good is the quality of finish. I have had mirrored visors in the past, and the finish wore off, making the visor look like poop.

For the smoke versions, how dark is the dark smoke? I have a smoke version now (different brand) and i can still squeak by at night, so I'm trying to see the comparison between the light smoke and dark smoke Shoei makes.

Thanks in advance.

My 2 Shoei spectra shields have held up fine for the past 3 years.

No fading - as with any mirror type finish be aware of abrasive objects

I have the blue mirror. Visor is about two years old now and it still looks great, you shouldn't have any issues with tint rubbing off. It's not as dark as the smoke though. I can actually use it at night too provided there are street lights, otherwise I wouldn't suggest it.

Cool thanks for the link. Seems the search tool didn't pick it up when I did shoei visor...

Looks like the dark smoke is definitely dark though. I like the mirrored, and will probably go with that. Just wanted to make sure I didn't drop the dough, and end up with the same situation as my last mirrored visor.

Looks like you got the answers you need but I've had a mirrored visor for my rf1000 for about a year now and its holding up great. Same visor would work on the x11.

yeah, looks like I may just have to get the spectra blue. I'm gonna putt around a bit with the normal visor for now, and make sure the helmet is fits before sinking in more dough.

Just had the mirror visor on my Icon, and it didn't even make it a full season. Where they have the lift lip on the visor, it was worn out, and then tons of scraps and stuff, eventhough there weren't scratches. You can pretty much see into the visor now, so since the Shoei's were more expensive, I wanted to make sure I didn't drop a decent amount only to be disappointed again. Dark smoke sounds a bit scary, unless I carry a clear one with me all the time.

I had the dark visor as well; agree with you about it being scary dark. Don't think its necessary to have it tinted that much. I gave it to a friend.

I have a blue mirrored visor on my X-11 and there has been no flaking or any problems with it for over 5 years and thousands of miles of use. Also check out the HD visors, I have an amber HD visor on my other X-11 and it's sweet!
