Suits...for bigguns - May 11, 2010, 01:16 PM

So some .Netter was selling a Joe Rocket 2 piece suit last year and I just couldn't get to him to buy it...going out of town and running errands before hand and he was in like Gaithersburg or somewhere far.

Anyways, I want to go on the track...I need a leather suit to get there...and maybe melt a ton of lbs off of me.

The only suit I've found so far is Joe Rocket GPX 2 piece suit. However I am VERY hesitant to order b/c if it doesn't fit I have to return it and lose out on restocking fees.

-Any OTHER suggestions (besides custom suits) for larger sizes? Budget is $600 and below.
-Any solid online/or Brick/Mortor stores that I could A) possibly find my size b) try on a suit?

I don't feel I should have to order a suit, try it on, then be stuck with paying $100 bucks just to try on teh damned dead cow.

Heard of Barnacle Bills...custom is too rich for my blood.

I wear a size 52 jacket (maybe 54)...46-48 waist...32-32 inseam 36 sleeve....

The biggest issue is the waist sizes that would fit have too long of a inseam/sleeve b/c they are made for taller people...HOWEVER, I've never....ever tried on a pair of riding pants so I really don't know...maybe it will fit...maybe not in length. Just don't want to waste $$$ to TRY ON STUFF...unless it's gas riding/driving to store.

I'd probably wear a 52-56 US sized suit if lucky?

Damn really....even Alpinestars SMX Plus?

I don't really have big calves or ankles...quads yes...so that may be an issue too.

honestly ex O-linemen aren't supposed to be zipping around on tracks BUT I KNOW there are some big guys who ride still and are damn good at it.

Just wondering if it's possible to do without having to knock on a custom shops door? Maybe I will keep searching for someone who I can buy the Joe Rocket GPX and send it back if it doesnt fit.

keep in mind also if you get it too big to accommodate your thighs you may end up with a suit looking like you are wearing diapers

okay...now we're talkin...lol.

but I guess you gotta pay to play. 2 piece suits start at $650...which is $50 over my budge. Right now the Joe Rockets suits are $450-$550. gotta find a store that would allow me to order and return.

True....I will call them an ask about their restocking fees...probably 15-20% if I refund it.

Maybe a route to go. Definitely gonna figure out something.
