Thumbs down Teknic Lightning Gloves - December 3, 2007, 11:35 AM

Teknic Lightning Gloves

These gloves look cool, right? And they have great protection. However, the velcro wrist tension strap is designed wrong. The mating velcro sections cannot match unless you cinch the thing so tight that you cut off circulation to your hand, and that's with no liner or jacket cuff inside the gauntlet. This is even the XL size! Put some bulk in there for cool temps and you can just forget it. Plus, these gloves are flat, not very ergonomically cut. Don't waste your time and money on these gloves. I'm sending them back.

Yea sorry about that!! I am not likiing them a whole lot. Sucks worse when you have to feed the velcro wrist srtap thru a little slot with both gloves on. These need to be redisgned! The gloves they replace are better!

No problemo. I have other gloves coming in this order. I'll just send back the ones I don't like because there is no restocking fee. Like I said, they LOOK like good gloves. In fact, I really like some things about them. However, that wrist velcro strap is just too annoying. I wish they fit me better too.

I have yet to find a system more comfortable and functional than my JR Sonic gloves over wool liners. The only bad thing about the Sonics in cool weather is that they have a few perfs in between the fingers.

Please do not test Carnage! We've buried enough people from rides this year.
I've had similar gloves from Teknic and didn't like the way they messed up my knuckles and feel. There are other gloves with that annoying strap. May I suggest going to the brick and motar stores, trying the gloves on prior to purchase and then buying online if you are going to buy online. Just a suggestion from an old dog.

Don't worry, Warren. I never race. Everyone knows I'm slow anyway. I do, however, ride all winter long, nearly every day, and I want to keep all my fingers. For the few others that commute over the winter, I thought I'd offer my opinion on the gloves.

Great idea, in theory. However, I see about 10% of the complete offering at best at B&M stores in my area. All the typical sizes are sold out so there is nothing doing when it comes to fitting. I know what you're getting at. I know that an online retailer has to hassle with the return. Therefore, I'm committed to buying something from them eventually, to make it worth their while.
