Track leathers - July 21, 2011, 07:23 PM

So I am looking to start doing track days and been looking at one piece leathers. Well most used stuff people have is way too big for me and a lot of the new stuff is pretty damn expensive. I decided to check out ebay and came across this set.
1pc suit motorcycle racing leathers gear 3X STITCHED 42 | eBay

I was wondering if someone more knowledgeable about track gear could give me some input.

Yea go ahead and buy that suit. Just make sure you have great health insurance! You can look around and get a good deal on a well made suit or buy a POS and pay for it afterwards. Post up your size please.

I know alot of the track days rent them. Might be a good idea first Track Day, though as with everyone else I've met, once you go track you never go back Any way good luck finding some, I'm no expert here but I'd stick with a decent brand.

If your username starts with D and has 4 letters you're tiny on .net I guess.

Check sportbiketrackgear for closeouts, I got a decent suit for my supermoto shenanigans for 300 but wouldn't take it out on anything that goes over 110 mph. They have plenty of good deals on better leather though too. I think ridersdicount has good stuff as well on closeout

Yeah I know they rent gear there but I feel better having my own stuff. I have always been one not to like borrowing things in the off chance I mess it up. Plus I see it as a good piece of gear to have even if I dont go buckwild and become a track junky.

^+1 Alpinestars are often discounted to $300-400. Check them out and get a name brand suit. I know that doesn't necessarily mean safe but its better than non name brands.

Reserve is not met yet. Wait until the auction is almost over and start bidding the last 10 seconds and see how cheap you can get it. I'm sure he won't let it go for under $300.

sounds good. Thanks for the input so far everyone. It always sucks that all the fun stuff is so damn expensive. I need to find a sugar momma to fund all my hobbies.

I never understand people who spend all kinds of money on a bike , then start getting cheap when it's time to buy gear

You can find good deals from time to time on name brand leathers in the $400 sometimes less range. There was a thread on here not too long ago where people were posting deals on leather. Trying to find that now.
