Warning about ordering from ScorpionUSA - December 12, 2007, 11:15 AM

I wanted to let everyone know what happened when I tried to order an aero skirt from ScorpionUSA directly. The online order system gave me a shipping charge of $0.83 and then they charged me $6.39 for shipping the $8 aero skirt that weighs about 2 ounces.

What made me mad is that I got no notification until I opened the box. Yeah, it's only $6, but it's a 70% cost increase and a 770% increase in shipping cost.

I emailed them and got this reply:
"I am very sorry about the misunderstanding. There is a disclaimer on our website that states the shipping costs are only an estimate. At this time we can not get the exact shipping costs through UPS as quickly as orders are placed. We must ship the items with a delivery confirmation. Sorry about the inconvenience."

I'm going to dispute the charge with the credit company on principle.

CN: ScorpionUSA jacked up the shipping cost and overcharged me

Didn't you think 83 cents was a little low for shipping and handling. Try talking to a manager to get better results.

0.83 sounds reasonable for something that weighs about 2oz if you ask me.

I was talking to a scorpion rep at a show or race, and i was trying to get the skirt as well, they didn't have it, and they otld me if I ordered it online, they'd charge me that much for shipping, so they just sent some over to a dealer near me and I just picked it up there with no shipping... They were very upfront about it, but I guess the automated website isn't as clear

BBB isn't going to do squat.

Seriously though, UPS is expensive. The only way you are going to see an under 5$ shipping cost for any "packaged" item of any weight is if they use USPS shipping.

Sucks their website mislead you, th ough.

Caveat Emptor...

and what jeeper said.

the website probably just uses the weight...and it mis-calculated based on a minimum charge aspect

I don't know how this old thread was resurected, but as an update the CC refunded me 100% even after I tried to explain several times (to the Indian rep) that I got the item and was only disputing the shipping. I'm not sure if the CC paid scorpion or just sucked up the small claim.

I still think Scorpion should have honored the price, called me, or just make a non-junky shipping estimation system. I am unhappy about being treated like it was my mistake, a straight up apology for their misleading system would have gone a long way versus suggesting that I can't read.

just to you know it isn't the R&R that sponsers this site it is a different one out of New Jersey.
